how many are you thinking of buying? Nothing wrong with buying calves if you can bottle them. Just be aware that somewhere around 10 to 20 % of even BIG calves over 100 to 105 pounders are free martins. Either pencil check them if you know how,,,or learn,,,or blood test them. No sense spending good money feeding them/raising them and they wont breed,,,unless you turn them in with the bull/steer pen and raise as such,,,a meat only

If you want say 30 head to breed and milk, I would raise 50 head at least and sell what you dont keep, Want 10,,,raise 20 etc.

At what point are you going milking on your own???
