Subject: RE: Storing Corn and Beans Till Summer

What works best for us is to "chill" our corn / beans in Jan when air temps are 0* or so. Usually run the fans 2-3 days then shutoff & leave shutoff till we haul out. Usually empty bins June / July but have gone into Aug. We do core our bins in March & check them monthly. Years ago I use run the fans monthly but always seemed to have some" issues". Talked to our local elevator manager& he recommended the chilling & not running the fans. Haven't had issues since going that route. Not unusual to unload bins in July & the bin would feel like it was air conditioned because of the cool grain.
