Not if they accept the challenge of "how little time can I get away with training before the fair and have no problems". I got FFA grand champion with a charX steer I literally touched 5 times prior to the fair lol
He was pretty gentle to start with though, my older brother tried it with a not so gentle steer and got his a$$ ran over after weighing in first day of the fair another year, let's just say his steer didn't make it into the ring.
I will add, that was kind of a jerk thing to have a 1460 lb steer barely trained during showmanship when the advanced class has to switch animals and show somebody else's for a bit... I got some girls gentle steer and another girl got mine and he just pushed her around. I do feel bad about that looking back, at the time I thought it was pretty funny. | |
