Subject: RE: auction mistake

I about bought the combine I was selling last Saturday (a Gleaner F). Earlier in the day we were selling the grain truck (66 C60) and, despite this truck being sold under my uncle's name, the auctioneer asked me if I was willing to let it go at $800 (even though there was no reserve) I gave him a big thumbs up on that one!

Anyway, come to the combine and I was there to start it up and climbed down as the auction started. At one point the bid got up to $400 and the auctioneer appeared to be asking me if that was OK (although once again, no reserve) so I gave him the OK sign. Suddenly I had the bid! I was plenty vocal at that point that I had no such intention; one of the callers seemed plenty confused as I had just given him the OK. I never had a chance to explain to them my blunder, but they were good about quickly rolling back the bid and continuing on. We didn't pull any spectacular amounts for what we had, but the prices were in line with what I was expecting.
