If a person thinks that what they own or how much they farm makes them better, smarter, more important etc they are a very shallow person who is destined to be unhappy. Why? Because there will always be others who are bigger, have better stuff etc and you will always be jealous, envious etc of them.
It only took me 40+ years to really have this sink into my head. Humility leads to happiness and contentment. Pride leads to the opposite. My point is that time, maturity and life experiences all work together to help us see this. If I were young again I would probably have to learn it all over again. Someone telling me that would fall on deaf ears. Humility leads to contentment which leads to real happiness. | |
