KS and NE in eastern 3rd | I don't think it's that uncommon for a farmer to be long the 2016 crop. My 2016 crop is 90% hedged but sitting in bins and I haven't taken any income except what little corn I had that wouldn't fit with our large crop this year. If you are always selling a crop 8 to 9 months after harvest you become adapted to it and operate just like the guys taking the money across the scale. Sort of like the guys who are not using a loc to fund their operation. | |
