I'd say old guys who don't need the money and shouldn't push a sweep auger should sell the spring high, deliver off the combine and defer the income.
Young guys can push the sweep, pick up the carry and maximize net $

Yes interest must be figured. It does affect the advantage but is no deal breaker.

The ethanol plant/ end user will pay you to store. This year proved big crops can keep basis perpetually low, except for very brief periods.


The end user around here has not paid you to store grain when you consider the costs. Aggressive marketing in June the last 2 years has been far more profitable than storing grain. The truth is the low interest rates with high stocks have allowed the end users to steal the farmers carry for the last 2 years. Hard to gain carry in a downward moving market. This year could be the year that trend breaks. Or you better sell half your grain on the 10th of June again.
