Subject: Question on Dowdy corn variety choice

Chebanse, IL.....

I believe I read that Dowdy (Randy, not his brother who also apparently had good corn...ironic!) used Agrigold 6499 STX for his award winning corn....is that correct?

If so, that's the same corn we plant here in NE IL. But, I've read repeatedly here on NAT that the "stacked" corns are losing us yield & the traits should only be considered as a prevention devices. So....is Georgia corn a problem area for CRW? I hadn't heard that before if so. But otherwise, wouldn't he be better off planting the no-trait versions & just spraying the heck out of the plot to prevent CRW & ECB? Why choose a stacked corn that's going to automatically lose potential....IF that's in fact the case.

Just wondering. Thanks
