| Yep. Like any other company, especially publicly traded companies, that is seeking profit for shareholders. Some of the major pharma do have small groups pursuing "orphan" diseases with a combination of "in house" resources and through collaborations with academic and gov't institutions. My worry for the future is that bacterial, fungal, and viral infections will create a bigger problem than we even realize now. Bacterial infections are a real profit looser in than resistance shows up quickly which dooms the profitability beyond a few years. The more it's used the more it's likely bacteria will develop resistance. | |
