Yes I do, but I am sure nursing homes would not like it, can't make money on a dead person, keep them alive as long as they are breathing so they can charge for another month.

That may be true in some cases but in the cities like Chicago the average life expectancy of a person placed in a nursing home is only about 3 months. Cruel conditions, poor help, people who don't care or have empathy for others and only go to work for a pay check. Personally I think they make more money on the turn around in filling and emptying beds. As for more rural areas we are fortunate to still have some that are family owned, or owned by a local hospital and I know some residents that have lived there for up to 12 years or more.

Same goes for Hospitals, My best friend moved here 2 1/2 years ago from Chicago after a divorce. Sadly he was an alcoholic and I was the only one that he would listen to and got him into the dr. the day after he showed up. He had asitities of the Liver and but not pshyrosis (sp).. The dr.s said he would have been dead in less than 2 weeks if I had not got him in when I did. (Sadly he died December 10th last year) He started drinking again but not heavy, He was actually on his way back until he started doing "jello shots" that had Vodka and Peach schnops in them. Once he started he was headed down hill.. Found him the next morning as I felt something was wrong. He also had a hernia just below his stomach so they figured it was a heart attack or he bled out ... Anyways I was able to help him live at least 2 years extra. That said he told me if he had been in Chicago at any hospital they would have most likely just let him die and not even treated him. Also the quality we have of care in our rural areas is much better than in large cities since we are tied into LaCrosse Lutheran and Mayo Clinic.... They send specialist to our local hospital that's only 1/2 hr away..

As far as assisted suicide, I believe it should be a personal decision but only an option if a person is in so much pain and discomfort they in no way can handle it.. As far as the dimentia if it's along with the pain I don't feel the person or the soul is even in the body again and has already made it's journey... I believe that is probably one of our biggest fears as we age..(that we will lose our mind and not know anyone, anything and end up in a vegetative state)
