Subject: Chandler fertilizer spreader chain

Southern Illinois
Got a Chandler bed on a terra gator last year we broke the chain so bought a replacement chain and installed it probably ran 1500-2000 acres with this new chain and it will not stay tight. We've taken links out, and I tighten it every load almost, well today I didn't and I tightened it first thing this morning not rubber band tight but just like the book said and ran 3 loads this afternoon and it was so lose it had sags in it. The adjustment rods are staying put its all in the chain I really don't want to tear another chain up. Do they normally take this long to stretch?
