N FLA | Can you lease the land per acre and lease the cows per head. Stock your leased land as you see fit, bale your leased hay as you see fit. Cows that turn up open you don't lease for that year. He can sell at market, spreading his income over a few years. Over 8-10 years attrition will reduce his herd to zero. Maybe give $200 per head lease? Not sure the right number on that.
There should be an easy way to do something that will work. And lots of complicated ways to avoid.
