Subject: RE: Tax season is the pitts

It's ridiculous the enormous amount of time required to keep and compile all the information needed to file a tax return. Even with computers and electronic records it's out of control. We are supposed to be meticulous down to the last cent whereas the govt can lose track of billions and trillions of dollars with zero accountability. I thought every form was supposed to have an OMB control number and it was required to provide an estimate of the amount of time it required to collect and fill out the forms ?

The other gripe is the end of January deadline for getting 1099's and other such forms mailed out. Seems there are always some that arrive later, or need prompting to get or have some special exemption as to why they don't have to conform to this deadline. Every tax form required to be sent needs to arrive within the last week of January period.

Too bad the returns don't offer a line to deduct for the personal time required to maintain and compile records to complete the tax forms. I'd say $1000/ hour ought to be a nice round figure. The govt fritters this amount away in mere nano seconds.
