south east Indiana | It would be interesting to do blood and liver tests on a few cows seeing what the results show. Are they getting by or is a deficient happening that will eventually cause problems. I also wonder if deficient, or overages for that matter, are passed down the line to calves. Are the results cumulative? I would think it would depend on the mineral and how it is processed.
Are calves that are not quite as good as they 'should be' the results of the cows feeding program?? Obviously true to some extent but I wonder how far reaching? I would think there is research somewhere documenting a long term study.
I am sure there are parts of the country where health is directly related to minerals provided that are lacking in soils and therefore forages. I would think this is more evident in parts of the country that get lots of rain and do not have the hard plains grasses. There are reasons for the differences in stock across the country... | |
