Subject: Tile Spacing

NE North Dakota
I have gotten bids to tile 320 acres of which half is a Hegne-Fargo silty clay and the other half a Rollette-clay loam soil type. I would describe the Fargo clay type as fairly tight soils. One contractor plans on 4" tile spaced at 60 ft. The other has 3" tile on 40 ft. The main is basically in the middle of the two quarters. The 3" x 40 ft. plan is about $10,000 cheaper, which is not a lot in the scope of the deal. The fields do get a fair amount of run-off from an adjacent hill and have only made a harvest about 3 of the last ten years.
What do you guys think is the best plan of action?
