| I had a couple fields of corn last year not even show pollen until Mid August. I spent most of my grain fill in September. I know some people think that's crazy but I'm much much cooler in September than I am in July. Corn loved it. 60# corn and was still too dry at harvest, that's the thing about living here, usually fall is pretty warm and we don't have any trouble drying down. The planting date being May 25th is asinine and something we have been trying to get changed for years. We had a section that we started May 20th with 113 day corn. Ran until planter was empty left the last 150 acres. Came back June 8th with 101 day corn and planted the rest with that. Came out of the field same moisture, and roughly similar yields. May 20th was 2-3 bpa better but I think that was the variety difference more than planting date. The 113 day corn is some of our best. | |
