Subject: RE: Cereal Rye Burndown

I think I am leaning towards your thinking. I can't say that I have ever been burned by letting rye get to big before corn but I have had my best crops the last two years when rye was brown dead and about the size it is right now. I do have Nitrogen on it and it appears to have taken quite a bit up. It is way greener and active than rye planted ahead of beans. I will leave a check strip so I will have a better idea next time April comes in February.
