Since crop insurance is subsidized the sweet area for me has been 70% for corn and 75% for beans. The percent of the government subsidy level starts decreasing after these levels. Do due diligence when choosing an agent. I do not sell crop insurance but I buy it as a farmer and also do claims adjusting on a traveling crop adjuster team. In my experience some private crop insurance agency's that sell crop insurance only do an excellent job. Many banks do not with the exception of Farm Credit. They have staff members that work in crop insurance only. There are many agents that are premium takers but not necessarily that well versed in crop insurance. The farmer also has educate himself about it also.
