That is a tough call. But sometimes you just have to force the issue and do the things that need to be done. Maybe someone like a Doctor would have an easier time of getting him to make the move. And as mentioned earlier sometimes they are happier in different setting. I know my mother did not complain after she had to go to nursing home and we are sure she was happier there than when living alone.
How do you convince an old farmer that it's time to move off the farm?
