If it's a capacitor you can tell by looking at it. A bad capacitor will have a convex top. I've replaced them in a computer monitor and a satellite TV box. A little pencil type solder tool from Radio Shack or from Amazon plus a solder remover kit and a steady hand will get the job done. Just note each capacitors location as they will have different voltages etc. Take them to an electronics store they will give you ones that work. If you are anywhere near Moline, Illinois there is a place called Warren radio that carries a wide selection of that type of electronics and they will be able to give you the right replacements.
