Lander, WY | My daughters gilt had babies last night. The gilt is out of her sow (a duroc cross) and our old berk boar. This is the first litter out of our Big Tex blood boar we bred on farm, I was a bit worried about birth weight (Big Tex boars are know to throw some big birthweights, have had 5 lb babies...), but bred to the best maternal sow we had, seems it worked, for a small gilt to lay down and push out 8 babies unassisted isn't too bad! She probably doesn't weigh more than 350...
