My bets are a leak on the rubber hose between the intake and the turbocharger, check you hose clamps for tightness. If the turbo spools up a good head fo boost the rubber hose can squeel like crazy and as soon as the load varies, you cant find or hear a noise anymore.Leaking air there will also change yoru horsepower output/rpms.
