Ammo for a 22-250 is much more expensive than 223. I love shooting my AR-15 .223 because when you shoot looking through the scope and miss, which I did a lot, you can keep looking through the scope and see where you hit and adjust and keep shooting without having to reload with a bolt action rifle which causes you to take your eye off your target. When you get ready to shoot again you can't find your prairie dog in the scope right away with a bolt action. I definitely shot way more than my cousin did with his bolt action rifle. Take a whole lot of ammo. I shot 849 rounds in 2 long days of prairie dog hunting but had a lot of fun and killed probably 150 dogs.
