On my iPad it is very easy to capture a screen. Just push the only 2 bottom on it at the same time. From there you can crop off the stuff you don't want on the pic by going to it in the camera roll. None of this helps you....

On a computer I take a screen shot, with the save screen key. Then you have to find the pic where it is being held, and can edit it with the Paint program. Been a while since I have done that, can't say the steps and with the newer Windows versions.......

As to maps, thry take new pics all the time, all around the globe. When they get a batch that are clear of clouds during mid day so the shadows aren't bad they get them stitched in and show up as new. It is going to depend on the weather and where they are working as to how often your neighborhood gets updated. I've had 2 updates on my farm, my friend 28 miles away is still on a 4 year old pic....
