A quick link to one part of the Section 1031 history, with an updated addition of the Stark ruling.

Jake, not only do many seem to think 1031 only affects land, I've had people claim it was only used for farm land. Usually followed by a complaint about those goll darned investors running up the price of land and they can because the sky's the limit if they use this fancy high falooting 1031.

Thats not reality of course, but one part I did want to note is that section 1031 isn't a new law. Says 1921 in this article. I think its worked well for a lot of people for a long time, I don't think any legislation abolishing it would get far. At least I hope not. I think there are too may instances where people can utilize a 1031 and corporate tax rates have nothing to do with them at all.
