| Yes pic is my harvest. not sure how long between swath and harvest, but see
picture was dated December
The problem is not combining. Would prefer to do a canola/cereal rotation. but
that is not working. In the past three years the weather has giving a very
high fusariun level and the strain around here has very high vomitoxin.
Spraying in the past two years has had little effect on the vomitoxin level.
This year's wheat is going to be hard to move. Just before Christmas I wanted
to move a little feed wheat that was late harvested and dried. They offer $3
per bushel. Other wheat is #2 but from no want to $2.5/bus discount.
Barley is the same problem and peas don't like our heavy clays, if wet.
There is a market for Oats, but 1000's of acres will most likely be burnt
in the spring in this area.
One thing I noticed this fall was soybean stood up in the Oct storm and
were first to combine. Most never got back into the oats.
Truth is I don't see Soybeans as a viable crop in this area, but don't
want to push canola. looks like it will be soybeans or summerfallow until
the weather changes back. It may start this years as we are coming on
year 5 of the wet cycle. | |
