Remember the AMS has two jobs. One is tying up the dirt and hardness ions in the spray water, the other is supplying N to encourage weeds like velvet leaf to inhale the spray brew. It might be that surfactant can help the second task, I don't know. Its the dirt and hardness ions in the water that can tie up and deactivate glyphosate.
