| 59,375 to 4700. It's almost unimaginable. My uncle lives in woodford county Kentucky, he raised about 40 acres of burley for as long as I could remember. He is 80 now and took the buyout a few years back. I hadn't been down there in quite awhile til about 5 years ago and I was floored by the lack of tobacco in the fields. I found it really sad, that area had so much burley and to not see it there, it was a little hard to take. Many of the growers are gone now, having left ag all together. Kind of reminds me of the towns based on industry and it all being gone. | |
