| Philip, it could be arthritis that has just gotten really bad. No cushion between the bones. That happened to me and I had injections that helped. I could have three a year and I did that for about 4 years. I would drop things, and it would hurt so much, couldn't open anything. Went to a specialist and he did a surgery that is called basal thumb arthroplasty. It was so worth it. Had to be in a cast for 6 weeks, each hand. Only time my hand hurts now is if someone shakes my hand really firmly.
So I think she should go to her doctor first, and ask for a referral to a rheumatologist. Try the injections first. Good luck | |
