I've never had a high power scope.  Got to shoot a gun with one on it yesterday, it was a 6-24x scope on a .22.  Cranked up to 18 or 20x, I didn't look or pay attention because I was just kind of enthused about shooting it, I aimed at a walnut.  I couldn't find the walnut but there was a big black ball visible.  I lowered the rifle and looked to see what it was for sure and couldn't find the ball.  Back through the scope I started below where I thought the walnut was and slowing rose to see the walnut, it was then I realized the "ball" was the walnut.

Duh.
