| Never buy a laptop unless you NEED it to be portable. If it's going to sit in the same spot 90% of the time get a desktop.
They're more expensive, more expensive to repair (if the problem can even be repaired), more likely to break, lower performance per dollar, easier to steal, more likely to cause a fire (those batteries), and on and on.
Most "dead" desktops can be revived by swapping a part or two. Replacement parts are more or less universal so they remain available and go down in price over time (to the point of obsolescence...pricesget funny when they're more than a decade old). Laptops, not so much. | |
