Subject: Plowing snow with a Case 1845C Skid Loader

SCWisconsin

For years now I been plowing snow on my farm drives with an 1845C fitted with an adaptor plate modified truck plow. I can rotate blade each way with boom hydraulics. Works great, although I will admit I have almost got myself in a pickle a few times, due to lack of traction.

Tires are getting smooth and for winter use really should be replaced. I’m told fitting the back tire set with chains makes the machine unstoppable. Tires are 12-16.5, 10 ply Super Side Walls. Today, I measured about 2” clearance between tire side wall and machine side sheet.

What’s the best setup? Deep dish rims? Rim spacers? Or.. Can I find chains that will clear the space?

I have not begun investigating, thought I would ask on here first. Thanks in advance.
