Subject: RE: Generator vs alternator

Does it have an external regulator that needs polarizing?

I thought I saw somewhere online somebody makes am alternator that looks like a generator for classic tractors.

Some alternators need to be revved up some to excite the charging part before it can be idled down to charge. Maybe the generator is the same?

If you always idle, maybe you could change the pulley out to a larger one so it thinks the engine is revved faster than it really is?
