SW Oklahoma | My son baled a lot of low quality hay on the halves this summer so we have a lot of it to feed this winter. Most is hay grazer that was very mature before it was swathed due to a lot of rain when it was needing to be laid down. We have been putting some bales out and there is a lot of waste as the cows aren't eating the stems. Seems like they eat about 2/3 of a bale and waste the rest. Which tool would be best to condition this hay to make it more palatable? Tub grinder, bale processor, or some kind of grinder/mixer? I have never been around any of these as we usually don't have this problem. Is it worth buying more iron to process 700 bales? Have several hundred bales of cow peas that I thought we could mix with the sorry hay possibly. | |
