Subject: Shipped a load of steers todsy

NE Oregon
Calves born March/April and run in dry range from may1 to October 1. Weaned into irrigated pasture and then a turnip/radish cover crop. Darn near screwed up, not enough roughage with the cover crop. Weighed a gate sorted trailer load at 565 average and man did they look green. Pulled them off 2.5 weeks ago and bunk fed them a 2nd cut new seeding alfalfa hay with red clover in it. Every trailer load hauled today averaged over 630. I couldn't believe that gain! Good day!
