Subject: RE: Light ground and corn maturity

Eastern central Michigan
Every year is different. This year on the east side the early corn planted early got hurt really bad. Rains came in August, for us our best corn was our later maturity as it was filling the ear at the time the rains came. Our 5f 701 ran 251 over 60 acres on sand loam. Yield monitor hit over 300 in the heavier ground in that field. But the home farm that got less rain (40+ days of no rain late June July) only ran 208. My early corn in the plot was sub par.
