to attempt an answer on populations. If you're confident in establishing a stand, I wouldn't be afraid of dropping the seeding rate to 70-80K seeds/acre. Soybeans have an amazing ability to produce good yields at low populations. There are kickers though. Two are: 1. Thinner stands can present more weed control challenges, longer to canopy, shorter plants. 2. Thinner stands tend to pod lower and have more lower branches, which places a premium on harvesting close to the ground.
