A computer to us is just another tool, sort like a tractor :)  We make our living with those tools so we keep an eye out for what's a good fit.

R Boss sent a link with plenty of options.  As stated, even if not going to an AMD, I would still wait until Jan/Feb to start a build because I can guarantee Intel will be dropping prices.  They are over priced now because quite frankly they have little completion. AMD was busy supplying the game console market which they have something like 95% market share.  In 2017 if you buy an Xbox, Playstation or a Wii, it will have an AMD GPU.

My suggestion is to start a budget and stick to it if building.  It's really easy to want the fastest, and best but it can be a money pit real quick.  We typically replace two machines each year (includes laptops) and we usually stay "behind" in technology 6 months.  That typically gives a better bang for the buck.

As Boss stated, a few must haves are

1.  Good case

2.  Good power supply

3.  SSD

4.  Good monitor.
