As someone who has fought weight for years, I follow the weekly threads here on weight loss and am very impressed with those who have lost fifty or a hundred pounds. I try portion control and exercise...but it is tough.

Someone I know is considering a different route. Originally she was considering the band that goes around the stomach but is now leaning toward the "sleeve" -- a procedure where about 70% of the stomach is removed. It sounds ghastly to me...and there is no going back once it is done.

I offered to ask on here to see whether anyone in our ranks has had the surgery (e-mail works, if you prefer) or whether you know anyone else who has had it...and how they got along with it.
