Subject: Discing cover crop in spring

Central Nebraska

I've got several fields that had seed corn raised on them this summer.  When the male rows were destroyed we had a tillage radishes spread to help with potential compaction issues.  We were undecided at the time what we would do with the fields for the following soybean crop in 2017 but we were hoping we could simply no-till into the residue.  Unfortunately harvest conditions were extremely wet and we will need to disc the fields several times before planting.  Yesterday I had my disc sharpened and decided to try it out on some of the endrows.  After two passes I had what I would call an acceptable seed bed for beans but my first pass I had a tremendous amount of wheel slip due to the amount of green vegetation I was driving over.  How will the radishes be in spring?  I assume they should freeze to death at some point this winter and be a bit easier to handle come spring?
