BC, Canada | Looking for opinions on what works for you guys.
Here's our situation, my dad and I run a dairy farm, own most of our own equipment except a few big ticket items. Own a SPFH 60/40 with a neighbour, we own the 40%. We buy all the parts and I do all the repairs. At the end of the year we sit down and get reimbursed for 60% of the parts by the neighbour.
That's all pretty straight forward.
The problem lies with the labour. I have plenty of experience on this line of SPFH so naturally I do the work but what's fair and who pays? I get a paid salary from our farm, my thought was to come up with an hourly rate, wave our farms 40% as I'm collecting a pay already and bill the neighbour 60% of the total. My thought was that 60% would go in my pocket.
I already do off farm repairs on these SPFH for other guys so I have a fair rate in mind.
This has been a debate between my dad and I for a couple years, looking for thoughts.
Thanks guys | |
