Subject: RE: Kansas Pioneer Grain sorghum

perryton, tx
Last year all my Pioneer went down, this year none of it did. I planted 85Y34 and 86G32. I sprayed most of it for Sugarcane Aphids but I had several fields where they came in pretty late so I left it alone. I did have some other company's hybrids that I didn't spray and they lodged so a lesson learned there. My experience with Pioneer hybrids is that late moisture stress pretty much guarantees lodging. Last year we had excellent rains up until August 1st and then it turned hot and dry and all of it fell down. This year it was hot and dry in July but we got good rains in mid August and early September which allowed it to finish better and stand well, not to mention yield better as well.
