Subject: RE: spreading wheat seed

Eastern Shore of MD
We did a side by side test our first year of trying this. Went from a conventional JD drill to spinning and VT. This was on soybean stubble. We also did a test strip that was VT, spin, VT again. All of the VT ground had about a 3 bu advantage on drilled, with no observed difference between what was VT twice. We were going to repeat this test the next year but due to coming weather we spun and VT all 250 acres of wheat that year. It was beautiful and yielded great. If we'd drilled it, we would have gotten about 50 acres in and the rest who knows when. Thats been 5 years ago now and we still VT all our wheat in. We do pull a Unverferth 225 harrow behind VT as well.

We are trying for the first time this year Chop, VT, spin, VT on milo stubble. We also left a strip with stubble standing. It will be spun and VT'd tomorrow.
