S.C. Wisconsin | Nothing wrong with hiring some custom operators to do some work for you. I hire all of our forage harvesting done by a custom operator who can put up 400 acres of haylage in a day. For our size dairy we can't justify having all that expensive machinery sitting around to do our forage. Then there is the labor issue. The custom operators have to make a profit but ask anyone that is or was in the custom business and they do make some money but certainly don't make a killing. | |
