Subject: new to cotton questions- dryland questions

Western OK
We are currently planning on trying 100-200 acres of cotton next year. we have never raised it before, but there has always been some in the country, but we have been for the most part in the wheat-wheat-wheat rotation with a little milo in there when the wheat ground got to nasty and graze out wasn't an option. so due to wheat and milo prices were going to try some other avenues. so we are in the 26ish rainfall area with hot and dry summer. shallow red dirt with lots of terraces. i ask guys around who grow it and they tell me it will work if you can make over a bale, so i ask them what yield do they shoot for and they said 600lbs. this year theyll hit 800lbs on some. so questions-

1)row spacing- some here are 30, 36, or 40
2)drilled cotton- i got a john deere ccs drill i can do 10in or 20in- one guy told me when they had the allis they drilled all there dryland and it worked great. the next guy says that a drill is unacceptable/ wont work. im confused
3)seeding rate
4)fertility
5)recommended varieties
6)any other info for a newbie???

thanks guys
