Columbia City, Indiana | Called feedmill the other day, I had been hoping to background calves for a while on corn silage and straight DDG with a salt block. The guy on the phone, who went broke dairy farming, was very discouraging of DDG, he said you need to add a balancer, etc. I see guys on here referring to feeding it all the time. I wonder if he (they) are against it because there isn't much margin in it or what? I think he told me 243 a ton but don't hold me to that. I fed a 1# phpd pellet last year, wasn't impressed with growth rate on it. I think it may be fine to finish that way but I think they need more protein for 500-900 phase. | |
