Subject: 6620 TITan II Radiator cleaning....Followup?

Live in Forsyth, Missouri Farm in N, MO
Finished up combining and have decide to change out the radiator over the winter! It is partially plugged and a lot of fins are mashed and bad and will not let dust through. I did a search but couldn't find it on here; someone had posted about cutting the sheet metal loose on the top where the fill cover is and pulling it straight out the top. Just looking it seems like this would work and save a lot of trouble then just screw it back down. Anyone ever done this or have any pointers? Or do I bite the bullet and do it the way it is supposed to be done?
