Subject: RE: Funeral planning what to expect?

Western Oregon
When my Mom passed we didn't have to have her embalmed. Since the cemetery said all vaults had to be sealed anyway. So many days was OK. Passed on Wednesday, burial was on Saturday so her Sister could travel. She had it all planned, 3 ladies from church sang, 1 song as we arrived, 1 during the service, one as we were leaving. A good friend, a young man from her church said a few words, anyone there had a chance to say a few words too. All together 20 minutes for the whole service from the time we drove up to the time we drove away. Had 1 rose arrangement from her garden, all that wanted to was able to lay a rose on the casket and got to take one home to press if they wanted to. The funeral home delivered the body to the cemetery. Casket was lowered after everyone left. About 15 went to a meal that Mom paid for. She was buried next to Dad. She only stipulated to use the cheapest box but we upgraded a little to a nice pine casket.

Did basicly the same for M-I-L, very simple, 2 songs that were recorded. Fire Department Chaplain said a few words. Most of her family were there, some said a few words. It was a happy rememberance....James
