My daughter had a brain surgery 11 years ago and I took a few photo's the next day. Pretty graphic pictures. They were filed away on my backup hard drive and I forgot about them. Yes, she knew that I had taken them. A couple of months ago, she asked me if I still had those photos. She is a moderator on several brain tumor websites and wanted to paste them on one of the sites. I managed to find them and e-mailed them to her. She remarked that she didn't remember looking that bad but thanked me for keeping them.
