AMEN AMEN AMEN.....I sliced an inch off Dad's thumb two years ago because he wasn't listening/paying attention. Fortunately the local PA put it back on and the ortho doc said he couldn't have done any better.
As for tips, use a grease gun to force the old sickle off the drive spline once the top bolt is off. DON'T use a hammer or mallet to tap the new sickle in. Its pretty soft stuff and I learned the hard (and expensive) way.
